Texas Operation Lifesaver Conducts Rail Safety Class in El Paso

In August, Texas Operation Lifesaver conducted a Rail Safety Awareness seminar for law enforcement in El Paso. Attendees included law enforcement personnel from the El Paso Sheriff’s Office, Texas Tech Police Department, and the Constable’s Office (Precinct 3). Instructors were Officers Jose Melero and Andrew Neverkovec, both from the El Paso Sheriff’s Office; and Colleen Martinez, Coordinator, Field Safety Support, BNSF Railway. Texas Operation Lifesaver Announces New Truck Driver Rail Safety Project

Texas Operation Lifesaver is pleased to announce a new project funded by a grant from Operation Lifesaver, Inc., designed to raise awareness about rail safety among truck drivers. Operation Lifesaver Awards Grants for Crossing Safety Public Awareness Campaigns

Operation Lifesaver, Inc. recently awarded $204,000 for Crossing Safety Public Awareness Campaigns. The grants will be awarded to Operation Lifesaver organizations in Texas, along with 12 other states. The Texas grant will be used to conduct a 60-day digital truck stop ad campaign at truck stops targeting CDL drivers of tractor-trailers and large trucks along Texas freight corridors in the South and Southeast. Dallas Area Rapid Transit Conducts Safety Campaign Targeting the Homeless

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) conducted a safety campaign using OLI’s “See Tracks? Think Train!” materials that targeted the homeless p­opulation in Dallas and surrounding areas through an innovative partnership between the agency and social service organizations. DART activities included conducting safety presentations, distributing rail safety-themed merchandise to homeless individuals and families, and incorporating rail safety messages in the Dallas County directory of services for them.
